Mary-Kate vs. Mary Kate
My husband and I posted earlier. We love this name however were worried since it is one of the Olsen twins. Does this even matter anymore? One person responded that it didn’t but would like more feedback. What do you think of the name? And which way should we spell it, either way we will be using it as a double first name. We just aren’t sure about the ’-’. Thank you in advance, all feedback is appreciated

You could always spell Kate with a C (Cate). Mary Cate would be lovely.

I do think Olsen twins but I grew up when Full House was on. It might get mentioned but I don’t think it is that big of a deal.

I like the name Mary Kate and I think you should spell it without the hyphen. I think she will be fine as long as you don’t name any future daughters "Ashley" or anything like it.

I really like Mary-Kate and almost named my daughter that and chickened out due to the Olsen twin reference. I instead did Caitlin Mary-Grace...then I found out that Caitlin has too much of an early 90’s bad reference. Who knew? We call her Catie Mary-Grace for the most part anyway.

Although well known, the Olsen twins are not really household names. And Mary Kate is really a classic. I certainly don’t automatically make that connection. It’s not like Cher, where it’s an unusual name that you only associate with one person.
