Esme vs. Esmé vs. Esmee Or Esmée
Help! I’m having a baby girl soon and I’ve always loved the name Esme pronounced Ez-may. The only problem is that I live in the south and I don’t want people calling her Ez-me. Which way should I spell it so that even people with thick drawls will pronounce it correctly. Thanks!

Either one of the spellings with double E at the end will be pronounced Ez-mee. Esme is a fifty-fifty chance of which pronunciation she will hear. Esmé would also be a fifty-fifty chance because not many people are going to know what the little accent above the E means. Either one Esme or Esmé would be your best bet of people pronouncing it Ez-may and not Ez-mee. GL!

Just spell it the correct way, which is Esme. Butchering the spelling isn’t going to help.

Esme or Esmé.
Whilst I think Esmé would be more likely to be pronounced correctly, I think having an accent in a name in the US might get annoyingly left of things e.g. I live in the UK and am friends with a girl called Siân. The accent over the a is almost always missed off, she’s regularly annoyed by it.
So calling her Esmé is nice, but it will probably get spelled Esme a lot. So you may as well go with Esme. Once you’ve said her name is Ez-may people will catch one, it only takes one correction.

Esmée is the feminine spelling of the name. Esmé is the masculine form. It’s like the difference between Renée and René.
I’m confused, posters 2 and 3. How is spelling these name the more classic way "butchering" the spelling? And who’s trolling? You mean poster 2, right? Not the poster? Right?
