Middle name vs. For vs. Lani

Hi, we are having a little girl and are naming her Lani after someone special to us. Lani or pronounced Lah-nee. We want this spelling as it is the same as the person we are honouring but would you pronounce it the same? Also we need middle name suggestions. Thanks.
