Matilda vs. Molly

I’m a little worried about how Molly will age is there anything it can be a nickname for? I love Matilda with the nickname Milly and we both like the M.M in the name so are looking for M names

I love Millie, but not Matilda. Millie can be on its own. I also love Molly. I think it will age quite nicely. I know a Molly, who has never had problems with her name. I think you may like McKenna, Maragret/Maggie, Maeve or Madelyn.

I love Maeve! We have also considered Mabel but hubby isn’t to keen on that name anymore. I also like Meg on its own. I would prefer Millie to be a nickname rather than the first, what is Millie usually short for?

Amalia, nn Molly, springs to mind. But it’s not an M name. Maddalena? Malia? :0)

Millie is usually short for Millicent or Amelia / Emilia. :0)

I do like Malia, as we have considered Marli which it could be shortened to! Thank you so much everyone!! We just enjoy the ring of the MM sound we will probably have Rae or Rose as the middle name although I have tried to convince hubby to go with Mollie Mae Maxwell ;-P

My friend’s sister goes by Molly. Her given name is Mary. I’m not sure if this is a usual nickname or just something peculiar to the family, but that’s the only Molly I know whose name isn’t actually Molly.
