Siobhan vs. Shivon

Hello namers, my husband and myself are hoping you could help. We have decided on shi-vawn for our daughter. We know the tradition spelling is Siobhan, which we love. We are somewhat worried over the spelling and pronouncation. With all the popular names right now (Aiden, Max, Lily, Ava, etc) we worry people will struggle to spell and say it correctly. Apart from Siobhan we think the only other possible (and also usable spelling) would be Shivon. Thoughts please? Would you struggle with this name? Do you think her teachers and peers would struggle? All feedback is greatly appreciated

I think it depends a lot on where you live, how much struggle there will be. It wasn’t a common name where I grew up, and many people would have struggled with it. I think as long as you teach her to be polite but firm and take great pride in her name, it would be ok though.

I really like the name and spelling but I think the traditional spelling would cause problems outside of Ireland. It depends how you want to pronounce it. Shivon looks like Shivonne. Shivorn maybe?
