Lanie/Laney & Lana vs. Lenie & Lena

How would you spell these nicknames for Elena? (pronounced El-AY-nuh). We are big fans of nicknames, we like Ella and Elle but can’t decide how we should spell Lanie/Lenie and Lana/Lena. Thanks for your help.

Don’t use Ella please. It’s so overused lately and I knkw way too many little girls with the name. I love Elle and Laney though.

Well it would only be her nickname, I don’t really see the popularity thing being an issue there :)

If she goes by the nickname more than she goes by Elena, it might. She will likely meet several other girls named and nicknamed Ella. I personally think Laney/Lanie would make such a pretty nickname for Elena plus it’s less common! I would go with the Lanie spelling.

I love Lanie especially with this spelling.
That’s the nickname I’d use for sure!

Lana and Lena might be an issue.I don’t think people will pronounce them like the end of Elena.I think for Lana you’ll get la-nuh (like rhyming with Hannah) lah-nuh or law-nuh and with Lena you’ll probably get lee-nuh. You’d probably have it spell it Layna or Laina for people to say it right.
