Hemingway? vs. Sure! Use it as a first name. vs. Nope! Use it as a middle name.

My husband and I are both big bookworms. Hemingway is one of our favorite authors. Initially, we thought about naming our son after one of his characters, but we decided that we simply like the name Hemingway. We’ve had mostly positive feedback from our families, but we are still concerned that it might be a bit much for a first name. Should we use it as his middle name instead, or is it an acceptable first name?

I really love the idea, but it’s way too much for a first name! I’d definitely use it as the middle name!

I think it would make a great middle name. Michael Hemingway has a good ring to it.

I love the idea. But you’re right it is a bit much for a first name. There aren’t any good nicknames to make it easier on him either and it really depends on your surname as some first names might make his name too long if you have a longer surname.
