Annamarie Nickname vs. Need nickname

We named our daughter Annamarie but now are having trouble since the name seems so long and coming out so unnatural. . Any suggestions for nicknames? We don’t really like "Anna" by itself.

How about calling her Annamarie and forgetting about a nickname for now. If a nickname is meant to be, one will stick when she’s grown. Not all kids need nicknames. Annamarie is lovely by itself.

They did state that the name felt too long and unnatural so they want a nickname. There is nothing wrong with that. I know an Annmarie who goes by Mara!

Do you pronounce Annamarie more like an-uh-ma-ree or an-em-uh-ree? If it’s the first, maybe Amy? And if it’s the second, maybe Emmy?

I go by Ann, mostly. The only people who call me Ann Marie are my Irish and English cousins. They get updates from my mother so of course I’m "Ann Marie." Here in the U.S. (west coast) the full two-part name is a non-starter.

Nicknames I’ve been called: Annabel, Anner, Annimal, Annie, Zelda, Annaree

Anna Marie might be better than running the names together.

My name has been mispronounced so many times that now whenever I introduce myself, I feel the need to emphasize each part... "I'm Ann...Marie". I like my name, but I don't think it quite rolls off the tongue. (AnnaMarie might sound better, but I'm too attached to my real name to want it changed.) My sister sometimes calls me Mimi or Mimsy, and my cute little cousin thinks it's "Aunt Marie". :)

Does any AnnMarie in this chat spell it like me (AnnMarie)? I always have sooooo much trouble with people spelling it with a space, hyphen, or an extra E!!! I'm thinking of going by Mara

My name is Ann Marie, and one of my brothers calls me Am. But there isn't an easy nickname for this one. Why not call her by her full name?
