Sawyer for a girl? vs. Dads number 1

We met a girl named Sawyer maybe three years ago on vacation and ever since then my Husband has been head over heels in LOVE with Sawyer for if we have a girl. I do like it but not sure if I LOVE like he does. I’m more team boy Sawyer but I’m willing to consider my husband’s favorite. I could see us using it but not completely swayed. Thoughts on Sawyer for a girl? If you have a daughter named Sawyer what have your experiences been? What middle names wouls you gove a girl named Sawyer? Thanks for the help.

I think it’s just awful for a girl.
NOt crazy about it on a boy, but it’s definitely not for a girl.

I had a sweet little girl in Sunday school named Sawyer. For me, it’s definitely a unisex name.

I would give her a feminine mn:
Sawyer Natalie
Sawyer Anne
Sawyer Miranda
Sawyer Anneliese
Sawyer Christina

Sawyer is actually one of the few names I like on boys and girls equally. Also if I see it written down, I don’t assume boy or girl. Because it is unisex, I’d use a more feminine middle name like Alexandria, Violet, Christina, Michelle, Emily, Abigail, Katherine, Zoe, Joanne, or Isabella.

I adore Sawyer for a girl! I think it’s unisex and works best either way.

Sawyer Eloise
Sawyer Caroline
Sawyer Elizabeth
Sawyer Monroe - might be a little too unisex
Sawyer Meredith
Sawyer Marin/Maren
Sawyer Adele
Sawyer Annalise
Sawyer Adelaide
Sawyer Louise
Sawyer Paige

Hi, I thought what I have to say might be of help! I had twin girls 3 years ago in June and named them Darcy Penelope and Sawyer Tatiana. We loved them because they were spunky yet classic. People love our girls names and we have pretty cut throat honest friends who would tell us if they don’t like them. So the experience has been really pleasant. Don’t worry at all. People will love and hate wherever you go. Just remember, don’t get swayed by both of them and name her what you like. SInce you asked, I would say go ahead and don’t be afraid of haters because really Sawyer is a completely acceptable name on both sexes. If you do go ahead with this name I do agree with the feminine mn part. You need to do it balance it out. Good luck. If you need me to answer anything else just ask away. :) - Leah

I think it works for a girl but if you are on the fence about it you should use something else. Saylor has a similar feel but is a little softer than Sawyer.

Darcy and Sawyer are really cute names ^^

I agree. It’s unisex. Just don’t jump into it if you don’t like though. I love it personally!

I’ve never met anyone of either gender named Sawyer. I personally find it a bit rough around the edges for a girl, considering that a sawyer is an occupational name for someone who works in a sawmill. It’s probably not my personal style for either gender, but I would come much closer to using it for a boy myself. I would not personally use it for a girl for sure.

I really don’t like it, to put it nicely.

I would save it for a boy. It means someone who cuts wood for a living...like all of those occupation surnames that have become male first names (Tanner, Fletcher, Archer, Cooper, Carter, Thatcher, Miller, Tucker, Kiefer, Grover) I just can’t see as female names.

It’s technically a last name so I don’t see why it can’t be used on either. But don’t use it if you both don’t love it.

I’ve only heard it on boys!.. Awful for a girl

Love it on both!

I love the names sawyer and Saylor for a girl! Just give a girly middle name like rose. Sawyer rose is beautiful

Sawyer is better as a middle name.
It’s not appealing for a girl’s first name.
I hope the fad ends quickly.
