I have a friend named Caitlin and she spells her nick name Cait. So in your case I’d choose Kait. Makes sense with the whole name spelling of kaitlyn

My name is Kaitlyn and the nickname commonly given to me is Kate, especially from family members. Although I know another Caitlin and her nickname is Cai without the "t" at the end.
