Nicknames For vs. Maximilian Besides vs. Max ?

My husband and I both like Maximilian but we don’t really want to use it because neither of us like Max and nicknames are kind of inevitable when using such a long name. We have two daughters named Christabel Jane (5, mostly goes by her whole name but also Bels) and Evangeline Dawn (2, mostly Eva/Evie but occasionally Linie). We have also liked Francisco but I don’t think it really fits well with his sisters! We are open to suggestions and generally prefer longer names but at this point, anything that matches Christabel and Evangeline will help! I am due at the end of May so time is rapidly closing in. Our last name is Taylor, and his middle name will either be Blake or George. Thanks so much for helping!

Even if you use a different nickname, your son may decide to use Max since it is the names go to nickname, so if you really dislike it I would keep looking. Suggestions:

I really dislike it, and he will be Max no matter what, if he tells someone not to call him Max there’s always someone new that will call him that at first, and this assuming that your son will share your dislike for Max. Emilian is similar and it doesn’t have a Max, though it’s a bit odd.

Maximilian is pronounced mak-si-MIL-yen (or mahk-see-MEE-lee-ahn if you’re German), so maybe maXIMiliAN could make Simon? That’s a stretch though. Other than that, Lee, or Leo? I also like the suggestions of Mac and Ian. Miles is nice too, but also a stretch.

We like Mill/Mills/Milian, but as one poster said do you think he will always be called Max no matter what?

I feel like no matter what, a lot of people will call him Max. It’s the "go to" nickname.
