WDYT of Suede? vs. need MN Suggestions
Hi everyone!! We’re expecting a baby girl in August! We recently stumbled across the name Suede (pronounced Swayed) and both of us really like it. However we are unsure if its too unusual/unheard of? We are thinking of using a very feminine middle name, to soften it up. Please let us know what you think about the name Suede, and leave us some girly, pretty middle names for our baby girl. If you don’t like this name, please suggest some other names that you think are somewhat similar to Suede, but have a better sound to them. Thank you so much! - Kristin & Jack

Pretty sure everyone knows how to say it. It’s fabric/type of leather.... Not a name whatsoever.

I’m sorry - not a fan because of the association with the fabric.

No, not as a first name. I wouldn’t want to be named after a leathery fabric. It is soft to the touch, though. It would be fine as a nickname.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate your honesty!! We are definitely worried/hesitant about using this name because of the fact that it’s the name of a fabric, and we’re glad that you brought that up. Do you have any suggestions of similar names? Thanks, Poll Posters Kristin & Jack

Thanks for your suggestions so far. This is all very helpful! We have considered Sadie but the only reason we don’t love it is because it sounds like an old fashioned name and we tend to favor "newer" or more modern type names. Nobody suggested this, and we totally forgot to put this in our Poll, but we have also thought about the name Blair. We really like that as well! Any feedback on Blair? We know it’s not super girly and we would love middle name suggestions! -Poll posters Kristin & Jack

Blaire looks better with the E at the end. It’s a unisex name. And way better than Suede.

Blair is ok. It’s dated. I associated it with TV show, "The Facts of Life". There’s more give when it comes to using it as a middle name.

Sloane would be nice. Or maybe Shoibhan(sh-eh-vahn)? But Suede is an awful choice for a name, especially on a girl. Blair is also nice but I personally lrefer it as a middle name.
