I prefer it on a boy, but that’s mostly because where I live it’s almost unheard of for girls, even as a nickname. I find it hard to imagine on a girl, but I know it’s more common in other places and I like the name.
I wouldn’t spell it differently if you’re using it as a stand alone first name, but if it’s a nickname spelling matters less.
Aurora nn Rory is my favourite for a girl. Rorie would also be a cute spelling.

I like Rory. I prefer it on a boy as a full name. I like it as a nickname for Lorelei, Aurora or Rosemary for a girl.

Rory is a unisex name. To me it leans more on the boy side. Though I know a woman named Rorie. She’s my sisters best friend.

I’ve always associated Rory with a boy. That’s, Rory with a "y".

I like Rori for a girl’s nickname.

Full name - boy. Nickname - either.

Rory is very handsome as a stand alone name for a boy. It could also be a nickname for Gregory or Roark (or Rorke).

For girls it could be a nickname for Rosemary, Aurora, Rosalie, Lorelei, Melora, Deborah, Elora etc.

I don’t really like the name Rory, I think it’s because of the R sounds being so close together making it somewhat difficult/uncomfortable to say.

That being said, I like Rory better for girls, I guess that’s because I watched Gilmore Girls.

All boy both origin wise and the meaning is red king, even statistically its far more common on boys rarely used on girls.

Rory was given to about 800 boys and about 400 girls (in the US) last year. I think it can work on either, but personally I like it much more on a boy. It’s better as a nickname on a girl.

I don’t like the name on either gender. I think Aurora is much prettier than Rory. It has kind of a rough sound to it.
