Mallett vs. yes vs. no

What do you all think of the name Mallett for a little boy. My wife watches the soap Guiding Light, and there is a cop guy on the show whos last name is Mallett but thats all he ever goes by, and she loves it. So we wanted to get you all’s opinion on the name. - AJ

Like a mallet? Not a fan. It sounds awkward and can’t imagine it on a child or person. I know a lot of people go by their last names and they grow on me but this won’t be one of them.

There’s also a pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean by that name . . . because he carries a mallet. So . . . nope!!

no, isn’t that a weapon? sounds a lot like Gunner and Hunter to me, very violent sounding i don’t like that at all, remember that that’s the guys last name not his first name, if you have to use it, use it for a middle name, what about

Which the guys full name on the show is Anthony Camaletti Mallet. I was the mallett as mallet thing so thats why I wanted to get other peoples opinion. But if I can talk her into it, I think we will probably use it as middle name.

i love guiding light and i can see it as a little boys name, but probably because i have known it on the show for years. i like it if the mn and ls flow well or use it for mn and let the boy decide when he grows up

A mallett is a weapon isnt it?
Aside from that, I still don’t like it at all. It also sounds like ’mullett’ which is not an appealling hairstyle.
The more I think about Mallett, the more I think it sounds ugly. Sorry.
