Yes vs. No

I’m in favor of family names and don’t think they take away individuality from the baby, but, that said...I’m unsure if I can use my brother’s name for my son? I’m close with my brother and love the idea of using his name, but I guess I’m still unsure if that’ll feel strange to me. I’m sure I’ll look at them as different people, but something keeps me from being 100% on it because I feel like I’m trying to be my mom by mothering a baby Henry? (My mom is cool and all...but). (My brother’s name is Henry but he goes by Hank now. Son would be Henry).

The Top Baby Name is...

First of all you should talk to your brother about it. Perhaps he would like to use his name on his son one day.

Oh I should’ve added that :) He does not want to use it, so he’s given us his blessing to use it if we want!

If so then I would say use it as a middle name, unless the name feels right as the first one, I think it is fine if you use it :)

You could use it as a middle name, and he could go by his middle name.

I love your idea :). Philip has to be the middle name, so we just have to choose a first. I so appreciate the comments!! Thank you!

One of my cousins has a son that is named for her youngest brother. It’s never felt odd at all.
