Rona vs. Rhona vs. Ronah

We love the name pronounced Row-nah, but we don’t know how its supposed to be spelled. these are the three most common spellings we’ve come up with. Rona to us looks incomplete although its probably the right way. Rhona is another way we found online that we like. Also, since Rona and Jonah rhyme, could Ronah be spelled the same way, with the H on the end (and I am kind-of partial to H’s at the end of names.) We would be happy with all three, because its the pronunciation that we fell in love with.

My immediate response was to vote for Rona. That’s the way I’ve always seen it. But I can certainly see the appeal of Ronah and it’s a logical spelling. If you love the look of it best, I’d go with Ronah.

My cousin is called Rhona. Her birth name is Veronica and she was called Rona from birth. As a teen she altered the spelling to make it more Gaelic. Rhona in Gaelic means "rough isle." On possible downside with Rhona is confusion with Rhonda.

Rona is a feminine variant of Hebrew Ron, meaning "song, joy."

Either Rona or Rhona would be my vote. Ronah looks odd and random to my eyes. Nerdy, I know. Good luck! :0)

I prefer the spelling "Ronah". I agree with you that Rona looks incomplete, and Rhona looks like a misspelling of Rhonda in my opinion. Good luck!

Hi there my name is Rhona and it depends on where you live the meaning of the name it has a few meanings I'm living in Ireland so in Ireland it means mighty power in Scotland it's meaning is something else and it also has a different meaning in Wales.
I obviously spell it like Rhona to me it would look weird without the h and I definitely don't like it at the end.

Rona is my name. I was named after two Ronalds so mine is pronounced as such. It's also short for Veronica. In Scotland there is the Isle of Rona and it means strong or rough island.
