Thoughts on vs. Cella
I came across the name Cella yesterday and was immediately smitten! It's not a very common name and I'm worried it will be mispronounced a lot, but i still love it. Before we officially decide, I'd love some thoughts! We think her middle name will be Grace. She'll be joining sister Cambria Ida(3). Thanks! -Carrie

I'm not usually a fan of odd names, but I think Cella is very pretty. She will always have to be correcting people on how to pronounce her name.

We almost named our daughter Cella! My gandmother's name was Marcella and we thought Cella was an awesome way to honor her. We were very iffy on the pronounciation so we shortened it to Ella, still honoring my grandmother, but her own flare. We also considered Zella but my husband wasn't crazy about the Z.

I think Selah looks prettier, though I've heard Selah pronounced Say-la, so maybe that's why you're going with Cella? I think Marcella (mentioned above) is prettier and doesn't make me think of a cell or the cellar, both of which come to mind with Cella. However, Cella should get you that sell-uh sound you want easily.

Not a fan of Cella. It either sounds like cellar or like a gangster saying seller (like playa).

I don't really like it, sorry. Perhaps Calla, Cecilia/Celia, or Selah?

I like it, although I prefer the pronunciation Chell-uh. I know a woman named Cella who pronounces it this way, and I think it's just lovely! Sell-uh is ok, but I agree with the poster who said that is sounds like cell or cellar.

I see a lifetime of pronunciations here. I personally would pronounce it Chella, similar to the Cello instrument.
You might also consider it as a nickname for Marcella!

I love Selah (Sayla)!
There is a name, Cintra, that is quite uncommon. It's actually a last name in Brazil, but some women here in the U.S. Have it as a first name.
Calista would be awesome w/ Cambria!

It seems incomplete. I'd use t as a nickname for Marcella or Marcelina

I prefer Calla, Calia (cuh-lee-uh), or Celia. I'm personally not a fan of using the same initial for siblings but if you're okay having 2 C names, then go for it
