Mireille (mee-RAY) vs. phonetic spelling?
Love the name Mireille for my baby girl but can't help but think that a phonetic spelling would must easier for her. Only problem is that the only one I can come up with is Merae which just looks ugly. Any suggestions for a phonetic spelling of Mireille or should I just use the proper spelling and just teach people how say it? Thanks ~Priscilla and baby girl

I usually prefer the original spelling of names and the 'people must open up, learn and accept' idea. However, it is true that it won't be easy with her name, beautiful as it may be. You must weight pros and cons and decide if it's worth it... perhaps try to talk to/search other people who've grown up with unusual names and see what they have to say about it.
On the phonetic spelling, I think Mirae is a nice looking one. Mirei and Mirey aren't bad, though they make me think 'my king' in Spanish.

I would spell it Mireille...most people have heard of Marseilles, right? I think it's similar enough that they would know. And if not, all you have to do is tell someone once and they'll know it!

You could spell it meray. That is how we spelled our daughter's name.
