Margot vs. Maren vs. Mariel

I would like to honor a Mary and a Margaret in my family. I love all three of these names so I need some help in choosing the ONE. Please vote on my poll for your favorite name. These are some of my favorite Mary/Margaret alternatives. I also love Marguerite and Greta. Here are my personal impressions of the names.

1 Margot - sass and spunk
2 Maren - soft and sweet
3 Mariel - lush and lyrical

Margot - I think this name is super super cute!

Maren - This one is my favorite on your list, because it's timeless and classic, but also fresh. This one will best grow with her.

Mariel - This one isn't my favorite. It's a little bit dated, and it sounds longer than it is to me. It's still a nice name though.

Do you like Marian at all?

Maren is my favorite. Pretty, sophisticated and uncommon
Margot would be second - I like the sound but prefer the spelling without the t. I feel like where I live people would say the t sound ;)
Mariel is okay. A little plain IMO.

I know this might not be helpful, but I really love all three names and can't choose! I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. I agree with the first poster Genevieve's descriptions for each of them. I guess it depends on what feel you're going for: spunky like Margot, sweet like Maren, or sophisticated like Mariel!

I do think it's funny that you were drawn to both Margot & Mariel though! They were the names of Ernest Hemingway's granddaughters: Mariel & Margaux (although Margaux was born Margot and changed the spelling herself). Just a bit of history!

Margot - timeless and cute
Maren - kinda old sounding
Mariel - even older sounding
