Neveah vs. Nevaeh
I know a lot of people dislike this name because it's "tacky" apparently because nevaeh is heaven spelt backwards. I'm not a huge fan of the meaning but I love the way it sounds. What's your opinion on the name and what spelling would you use?

I would go with the actual Nevaeh, as the other "Neveah" one I have seen a couple times, and it is pronounced Nah-vee-ah, and the other one Nah-vay-ah. So, it really goes on what pronunciation you want.

I don't like it because when you spell a word backward it's to make it mean the opposite. So this is naming a kid Hell, essentially.
Nevada or Neva or most other names would be better.

I like Neveah better since you say most people think heaven spelled backwards is tacky but keep the pronounciation you love.

It's common in many mystic traditions to invert the meaning of a word by spelling it backward. That's why a black mass is a traditional Latin Mass said backward or why the cross is hung upside down as a symbol of the opposite of Christianity.
Nevaeh is the same.

I actually really like the sound of Nevaeh, I also think the Nevaeh spelling is best.
Also, the whole "Nevaeh is basically naming her Hell" thing is ridiculous. That would be like taking my name, which means "strength, power, virtue," spelling it backwards and saying that it would be weak instead. That's absolutely ridiculous.

I'm sorry but this name is awful, however you spell it. Why saddle the poor kid with a name that screams "Trailer Trash!"?

Honestly I never even pay attention to the fact that Nevaeh is Heaven spelt backwards. A woman my mom used to be friends with gave her daughter this name, she's now 17, graduated high school a whole year early, and has no problems in life. She's also a very sweet and well mannered girl. I see no problems with this name, I think it's quite pretty.

There is a Basque name, Nerea, that sounds similar. It is pronounced like ne-RAY-uh/ne-REH-uh. You might also like another Basque name, Naiara (NIE-ahr-uh). The Spanish spelling is Nayara!

I absolutly love this name. If we are having another girl we will most probably name her this since both hubby and I like it. It sounds so sweet and beautiful. I don't understand why so many people hate this name. I think it's a very nice choice no matter how you spell it. I liked the suggestion of one poster to spell it Navaya I think that's pretty too.

I don't see it being tacky at all. If someone would tell me they or their daughter is called Navaeh I would think wow that's beautiful and not think about what it spells backwards…like who even thinks about what a name spells backwards
