Baby Name Poll Results

What do vs. you think?
One of two names will be our daughter's name. One is a name that we adore the sound and meaning of immensely! It is just so so pretty to us! The other is not only a lovely name that we adore, but it would also be after a very precious and dear friend. The two names are similar enough that we cannot use one and save the other (at least not as a first name), and we are also limited biologically (meaning we're unsure if we'll be able to have more children after she's born). I don't want to mention the names themselves, because that could skew comments/opinions and the names themselves aren't really the point. The point is, how would you go about this issue of choosing between them yourselves? What things would make you go with one or the other?

I a bit confused by what exactly you're asking but why not give one of the names as her fn and the other as her mn?

Because the names are too similar for a first and middle name combination.
Let me see if I can be more concise:
Two name options for her first name.
Too similar for a first and middle combination and too similar to save one for later (and we're not sure we'll be able to have more children later).
We adore both names, but one would also honor a precious friend.
We're having trouble deciding which to use.
Is there anything you can think of that might help us decide which to go with?

What are the names? I would generally go with the name you love and then find a way to honor anyone you want to as a middle name. Maybe the name that would honor a friend has a variation that would flow better with the name you love?

This poll is too hard to help with. And by hearing other peoples opinions, it also helps with a name. There was a name I wanted to use until someone said it reminded them of something, so I looked it up and found several other sites of people thinking the same way. Saved me...rather my child from an embarrassing name....by a point of view I had not thought of.

This is not a fake poll in the least. I am looking for help in our decision. If you don't want to help, simply move on.
The names are Gianna and Hannah.

Hannah Gianna wouldn't be a bad combination.

I much prefer Gianna to Hannah. Hannah is very bland and played out.
Hannah means favor or grace, so maybe a name with a similar meaning for a middle name?
Gianna Grace
Gianna Amara
Gianna Emi
Gianna Mercedes

"Hannah is very bland..." is exactly why I didn't want to mention what the names were. We don't find it bland in the least. It (along with Gianna) is one of the most beautiful names we've ever heard. The fact that it is the name of our very much loved friend makes it even more special to us. We adore Gianna just as much though.
We don't like Gianna Hannah or Hannah Gianna. They don't flow together at all.
Her middle name will be Rose for sure. It's my middle name, and I've wanted to pass it down for as long as I can remember.

Both are very pretty.Personally I like Hannah the best but Gianna is also pretty. If I was in your shoes and just could not decide between the two,I think I would split the tie by choosing the name that would honor my friend if we loved both names equally. You could also ask family and friends which they prefer if that matters to you to help you break the tie.Or you could save both choices until you meet your daughter and use the name that fits her the best. Johanna is nice, yes, but it doesn't seem to hold the same beauty as Gianna and Hannah.

Go with the name you love, because you'll regret it if you don't. It's nice to want to dedicate a name to a dear friend, but if you don't think you'll be able to have any more kids, thing with the one that you love. I had a friend that I named my last little boy after, his name is Noah, and I am not very fond of that name and wish I named him the name we loved.
