Eira (Eye-Rah) vs. Ira (I-Rah)
According to google Eira is a girls name, but we really like it for our son who is due 31/10/2017.
Our first son is Elias James born 31/07/2013.
Our daughter is Esmèe born 31/08/2015.
Eira sis our favourite choice and we'd ideally like it spelt Eira but is it too girly?
Baby girls are now being called James and Blake etc.
Please voice your Opinions

It's my opinion that if you're appropriating a name from a certain culture, you should respect the naming rules of that culture. Eira is feminine in Wales and I don't think it looks masculine at all. I realize you probably want a name with an "E" initial but I don't think you should change tradition to suit that purpose.
I think Ira is more appropriate for a boy.
Other "E" suggestions
Eamon/Edmund
Eden
Edison
Edwin
Ephraim
Einar
Emil/Emile
Emmanuel
Emmett
Emrys
Enoch
Eric
Ernest
Erskine
Ethan
Eustace
Evan/Evander
Everett
Ezekiel
Ezra/Ezri

Ira is a boys name and always has been. Eira has the same pronunciation but it's a Welsh girl name. I would break the E cycle and spell it Ira. GL

I think since Eira is so rare you could get by with spelling it this way. Ira is actually a boy name. So I think you could get by with spelling it Eira if it is what you prefer.

I recently changed my name to Eyra and I'm non binary! great gender neutral name. who cares about what it was traditionally used as.. i'm welsh and I see no problem in it at all. Just at the sound of the name people would usually assume the spelling is Ira, being a male name.

This day and age names do not seem to stick with the genders any longer. A friend of mine has a little girl name Billie and a son name Sammy, both unisex names but to me billy is male and Sammie is female but whatever fits for you.
Elias, Esmèe and Eira seem to fit wonderfully!
Actor Ryan Reynolds daughter is called James, so I wouldn't worry too much. Follow your heart. Good luck x
