Baby Name Poll Results

Do it! I watched the Addams Family for the first time a few months ago and thought that's a Wednesday was such a clever name for a girl! I don't think I would be brave enough to use it, but I'm all for encouraging other people to use it!

The first name that popped into my head is Esme because I think it sounds sort of similar to Wednesday in a way.I like Wednesday too but I think you're right in not using it.

People use Sunday as a name. I don't think it's that different really except for the Addams family correlation. Maybe you could think about what part of the name is your favorite sound. Is it Wens or Day? and then try and incorporate that sound into another name or find one with it already. GL Maybe Winslow?

Winslow seems like a surname to me. I prefer Esmeralda to Emerald so maybe Esmeralda nn Esme? It might grow on me; baby isn't for a few months! I honestly can't figure out why I like that's whats so annoying! Thanks for helping guys!

Wren and Stella are pretty but not something I would name my daughter. I think it's overdone to some extent. Sorry- I'm just so picky I guess! The closest name so far would be Esmeralda nn Esme but I still don't love it as much as Wednesday. Thanks though!

I prefer Willa to Willow- maybe Willa will grow on me! Also, if she wasn't born on a Wednesday would that be weird? As if naming my daughter Wednesday wouldn't be weird enough to most people lol. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys!

Thank you for the suggestion but I would use just Willa!! I just hope I find a name I love as much as Wednesday because so far nothing stands out as much as Wednesday. Don't want to regret the name I give my daughter but don't think Wednesday would be a smart move. This is hard!!

Lennae is cute; I have tossed around Lennon and Lennox too (they of course didnt tie or beat Wednesday like every other name I've thought of or seen); maybe that is why I like your suggestion.

I'm assuming the people suggesting names agree that Wednesday is not a suitable/good name.

It's not cute in my opinion. Think it would be better as a middle name.

I really love Wednesday too but think it has really strong teasing potential so it would be a no for even though it is pretty and unique. What has helped me quite a bit is to apply the name to myself and think how I would have liked going through life with it.It seems really obvious but it has helped me eliminate some choices,by putting myself in my daughter's shoes. I feel your pain though,Wednesday is really cute but Willa is beautiful too and your daughter is much less likely to resent her name. Maybe call her Willa and give her two middle names so it flows better,if she likes Wednesday she can go by that but if not she won't have to.

I know of a girl who is named Tuesday. And while it does throw you off at first, you can't say it's not unique. What about names like Winnie/Wynie, Wynne, Wendie, Wendolyn, Dayla, Dailyn.

I like Waverly, Tallulah, Eulala (not Eulalie), and Daya/Dayla...but again, not as much as Wednesday. It's funny- I don't like Tuesday at all! If I can't find a name I like as much as Wednesday should I just settle for my second name? Thanks for the help!

but if your comfortable yelling out Wednesday in public like maybe in the park or at the grocery store, you should stick with your gut and go for it!

Ultimately the most important thing is that you and your daughter like her name. Have you asked family or friends for advice? Maybe it will help you come to a decision. If you really love it and feel genuinely upset at changing to another name I don't think you should choose something else. I actually think most people like the way Wednesday sounds,it's just the other things that make people not want to use it.(Addams family,day of the weak,wednesday's child full of woe) But once people know your daughter they will stop thinking of any preconceived notions and it will just become her name. My biggest concern would be how my daughter would feel,I think you should allow her to go by her middle name if she really doesn't like it but she may absolutely love it. GL

Every name is very different in its own way and I don't think that anything will compare to Wednesday in the qualities it has. So, the best thing to probably do is think about what other things different names offer and maybe it will measure to Wednesday. Hope that makes sense! Best of luck!!

My opinion on Wednesday is that it is awful. Not just because of the Addams Family, but it is incredibly unattractive. There are so many nice names out there, why pick a day of the week for a name? That's a name choice you will surely regret.

If you truly love the name I suggest using it as a middle name. You'll end up overthinking about it if you use it as her first name, and you most likely will her by her full name anyway in several ocasions so it will be there for you.
