Dreux vs. Drew

Here we go. My husband and I are debating the spelling of our son's name. We are not French. I like the French spelling of Drew (Dreux). My husband prefers the traditional spelling. I would like to have your opinion on the spelling of the name. Dreux vs Drew. We have 2 months to decide. Thanks! :)

"Dreux" is Faux French. It's not the actual French spelling of Drew. Being that Andre is the French form of Andrew, and Dreux wouldn't be pronounced that way.

I would just stick with Drew. It's easier to spell and pronounce.

Dreux looks like a headache (I predict he'll have a lifetime of correcting people ahead of him) and it's not EXACTLY pronounced the same way in French as Drew is in English.

Please go with the traditional spelling. If you go with Dreux, your son will always have to correct people on how to pronounce and how to spell his name. My sister's name is Yvonne and she hates how my parent's spelled it. She has asked and complained to them most of her life about why they didn't they it the traditional way. She has considered changing it but hasn't because it would hurt our mother's feelings. Trust me your son will thank you for naming him D-R-E-W.

Sorry, but Dreux looks pretentious. And that's coming from a very pretentious person. Even I can't take it. Drew is the way to go here. Good luck! :0)

I agree with the previous posters and vote for Drew! FYI Dreux is not pronounced like dr-ew. It is pronounced drough with a rolled R. Save yourself and your son the headache and spell it Drew.

Drew itself is lovely. But Dreux looks weird and confusing. Stick with Drew.
