Naoimh vs Naiomh vs. Niamh vs Neve vs Neeve vs. first name? vs Middle name?
Hello. I made a post about a week ago asking about the pronunciation of Naoimh and Naiomh. You all said they were variants of Niamh, and pronounced "neeve". Well I've fallen in love with this name, especially Naiomh. thing is, I'm not Irish in the least bit. Should I save it for the middle name? Should I spell it Neeve if I want to use it for my American daughter? I love love love the name, but I'm at such a dilemma bc its so hard to pronounce. what should I do?

I'd use it as a first name and spell it "Neve." Very pretty, indeed.

As pretty as niaomh looks, I've personally only ever seen the Niamh spelling, so wonder if it's just a step to far in expecting people to pronounce it correctly?

I think part of the charm of the name is its Irish spelling. While the pronunciation is the same, I don't care for the look of "Neve."

I agree it's beautiful but I'd go with the Niamh spelling

Or, if you are super bold, just go with Naiomh as her first name with the original spelling. Who cares if it is unusual? Just know you and your daughter will, no doubt, have to pronounce her name quite often and correct the spelling. It is not a deal breaker if you don't let that bother you.
I have a slightly different spelling of a familiar name, and I often have to correct people. It does not bother me and I love my slightly uncommon name.
