I mostly agree with Mandi. To me, Madelyn is prettier and more classic than Madison. I find it just a touch trendy compared to Madeleine
Madelyn is very cute.
I still think of Madison as a boy’s name...

I vote for Madelyn because Madison has peaked in popularity and is on its way down. Madelyn is a traditional sound with a new look. (You can see name popularity graphs at babynamewizard.com.)

From Poll Creator:
Here’s the thing, I like both of these names, but I really and truly love Madelyn/Madeline...I think it’s beautiful and way more classic, and it seems like it would age better than Madison. However, my husband like Madison better...he thinks it’s cuter and thinks it’s easier to say. I like Madison too, but I don’t like the cutesy aspect of it or the popularity/trendiness of it. Plus, the fact that the word "son" is in the name really bothers me! So what do we do???

I would say keep looking until you find a name you both like or agree that one can pick the fn and the other the mn, with you each having veto power for names you really hate. Maybe Madeline with a name he loves as the mn? Or a different fn with Madison as the mn?
Maybe Maddie

No matter if she’s Madison or Madelyn/Madeline, my husband will call her Maddie. I’m more for occasional nicknames, so I’m planning on calling her whatever we name her and calling her Maddie on occasion. So would Madelyn be a good compromise???

I think Madelyn would be a good compromise. If you really love Madelyn and he really loves Maddie, I think that sounds like it should work for well for both of you.
And I agree, Madelyn is a beautiful, classy name. Madison is not a bad name, but it’s just so overused and trendy.
