Brooke Burke vs. yes vs. no

My husband and I do not agree on many names at all, but we do love Brooke. But I’m hesitant about it because of our last name Burke. What’s your honest opinion of the name? Thanks!

I wouldn’t consider that the best name based on who your daughter would always be associated with. How about a similar name like Bridget?

Yes, I think it is a fantastic name! Cute for a little girl, professional on an adult.
Brooke Burke will also be easy for people to remember.

It wouldn’t be professional...she’d have the same name as someone who makes money by flaunting her body. Not classy, and not someone I’d want my daughter associated with based on a name.

I don’t have that much of a problem with the association to be honest, but I really don’t care for the name Brooke. I just never found it all that feminine or attractive for some reason.

I’d never even heard of Brooke Burke until I read the above comments and looked her up.
So I didn’t associate the name with anyone

I bet tons of men she meets will immediately associate the name, which will give her a disadvantage as far as respect. This is bad enough in general life, much less in an education environment or work environment. I’d suggest finding another name.

Not everyone knows who Brooke Burke is now, I doubt this will be much of a problem when she’s older. I really don’t see this as having much bearing on her education or working status. It would be worse if you named her Pamela Anderson or Jenna Jameson or something..it’s only Brooke Burke.

Go with Brooklyn Burke? Or Brook.

It would be embarrassing for her if, when she is a preteen or teen, she and her friends are messing around and type her name into google just to see what comes up (or some other similar idea that kids do). Brooke Burke may not be the most well known person, but she is certainly out there, and especially known by men (whether they admit it or not). I, personally, would not be comfortable growing up with the possibility that people find out that I share a name with someone like that. Kids her age may not know who Brooke Burke is, but I do agree, her future boss may. That’s just an awkward situation that should be avoided for her sake. (There is enough sexual harassment as it is, we don’t need to offer some more fuel to some creepy old man)

The name is really cute. I don’t think it really matters that there is a famous female with the name. Go with Brooke. It’s cute.

Naming her after a famous female can be okay...but I’d say this person isn’t someone I’d name a daughter after. Sorry, don’t like it.

Try to remember your uncomfortable middle and high school years. It can be hard enough to go through puberty with a name like Sarah, but to find out that you share a name with a nude model... how traumatizing for a young girl. Talk about ammo for teasing.

By the time your daughter is a teen Brooke Burke the celebrity will be over 50 years old. Who cares whether her future boss knows who the famous Brooke Burke is? Her boss could also be female btw. I think saying he knows a celebrity who shares the same name and somehow linking that to him sexually harassing her is a bit extreme. I understand people’s concerns, but I think this kind of blown out of proportion, especially considering a B list celebrity.

By the time your little one is even old enough to get a job and ets no one will remember the acctual Brook Burke. I like Brooklyn. I’d say go for it!!

*etc spelling mistake!!! I really like the name Suri...should I not name my kid that because of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes??

I’ve never even heard of Brooke Burke, however I don’t think Brooke goes well with your last name at all. Too many similar letters

Thanks for all the comments. Some of this, I hadn’t thought of before. Luckily I’m not due until May, so I have time to contemplate it.
