Well, they’re Welsh names, so that’s why they look weird. I was looking at Scottish, Gaelic and Welsh names, and came across these, and I thought they were pretty.

Eirys: eer-ies
Eirlys: eer-lees

I’d say Eirys as Iris, and Eirlys as Ire-lis.
I prefer Eirys, but I think you’d be dooming a child to a lifetime of mispronunciation and misspelling.

Should rhyme with Heiress (air-is) by the looks of it. But why choose a name that you aren’t sure how to pronounce?

I am thinking it looks like Heiress (like Paris Hilton, an "heiress")...I don’t like this name. Can’t tell if if it’s for a boy or a girl. and like someone said, it would be doomed to be spelled and pronounced wrong all the time!
