I said Giana since the way your pronouncing it,Giana makes more sense. Although,I say Gianna looks more pretty. Why don’t you just spell it Gahna or Gahnah? By the way,I love the name!

Gianna is the correct spelling. It’s my daughters name, nn Gia. Giana is a variant but not a legit one. It’s not the feminine form of Gian, said like John, so John-ah doesn’t make sense as a pronunciation. It’s the feminine form of Gianni, said G-Ah-knee, which is why it’s spelled the way it is.

Gianna is the correct spelling....For the people who are saying "Gahnah" I think maybe they are confused on how the name is pronounced?

Gahnah makes me think of the country: Ghana. Gianna is the correct and best spelling.

It’s an Italian name and should be pronounced Gee-ah-na. Gianna would be the best and most correct spelling.

Gianna is correct... The name is NEVER pronounced Gi-anna. Gianna= "gee ah nah" Pretty name btw! I like it, but surprised by it’s popularity... it’s snuck into the top 100 within the last few years.

It’s the same as Ana and Anna. You pronounce Ana and \’ah-na\’ and Anna as \’an-na\’ so the correct way to spell it if you want it to be G-ah-na is Giana. It’s a European name so it would follow the European pronunciation, and having the one n gives it the softer A sound.

Funny lot of comments you sparked! If you spell it Gianna it will almost certainly be pronounced G - Anna (certainly in UK). Giana will give you some hope of it being pronounced as you would like G-ah-nah. Giana is a perfectly legitimate spelling. The name is Italian in origin and originally shortened from Giovanna. I have my own daughter named Giana but as an abbreviation of Georgiana, it’s a pretry name.

So I'm almost 15 weeks pregnant and I'm not sure if it's a little boy or little girl quite yet. If it's a boy it will be named after my husband because he's a Jr. But if its a girl we decided with the name Gianna. I'm not to sure if I want to spell it Giana or Gianna but it will be pronounced Gee-Ah-na. From what I've read "Gianna" is the correct way of spelling it, but my name is Jessica and my nickname is spelt "Jessy" which ive been told is the incorrect way of spelling it (whatever that means) so maybe I'll spell her name different as well like mommy does.! That is if it so happens to be a little girl. I'm not sure though, what do you think???
