Sibling For vs. Edelweiss Brielle

We did a poll last night, and got many name suggestions. We want to go for a softer sounding name that goes with Edelweiss. Names that got suggested last night that we like so far are, Campbell, Dashiell, Porter, Evander, Theodore, Nathan, and Silas for a boy, and Ramona, Katherine, Margaret, Florence, Lorelei, Ottilie, and Emmaline for a girl. Which do you like best? Any other suggestions? Any middle name suggestions for your favorite name off our list? Thanks!

Porter for a boy, and it's a tie between Margaret and Flroence for a girl!

Oh! We thought of the name Bridgette, forgot to add that to our list.

I think Edelweiss calls for sweet, soft, less usual names.
Evander is very nice, and has a rather 'mystical' vibe to it, it pairs nicely with Edelweiss. You might create an E theme there, though. Or not!
Silas is more common, but it sounds so nice paired with Edelweiss.

For the girls, Florence, Lorelei, Ottilie and Emmaline shine. Ottilie has a pronunciation to be watched, depending on where you live and how you pronounce it.

I didn't catch your previous poll, so sorry for any repeats, but here are some more ideas:

Oh yes, I would definitely say pronounce it "ee-va" too. The "ay-va" pronunciation should be left for Ava. Georgia is pretty! Yeah, I thought somehow that you'd like Della, but it makes sense that that's a nickname for little Edelweiss. So cute! :-) I think I'm starting to get a hang of your style now!

Spreadkindness, thanks for your suggestions, and although Marguerite, Magnolia, and Jasmine are beautiful names, we don't really want to keep with a flower theme. Thank you again for the suggestions though!

Oh, and btw, I purposely never suggested this one, because not many people like it, but it's always been a favorite of mine, and you guys seem like you might like it. Do you happen to like the name Mildred? It means "gentle strength". I understand if you don't, but I just have to know!
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
From your list, I like: Katherine, Margaret and Florence for a girl. And Theodore for a boy.
posted by Spreadkindness :: 7 years ago | report
I like silas and ottilie
posted by Guest :: 7 years ago | report
Oh I had thought that Hanneniah was a girls name, I thought it was a different way to spell it, because I have seen it spelled Hannahniah. We like Royal (I was obsessed with the Little House on the Prairie books as a child, and Almanzo's brothers name is Royal), Dustin, Elliot, Tobias, Harvey, Zachariah, Laura, Alice (my Grammy's name!), Summer, and Rosemary. As for Eva, which I am loving more and more it just sounds so sweet to say! We like, Eva Lillian, Eva Winifred, Eva Charlotte, Eva Grace, Eva Josephine, Eva Madeline, Eva Louise. Thanks!
posted by Poll Poster :: 7 years ago | report
No, I'm pretty sure Hanneniah is made up, and the real spelling is Hananiah. Hananiah was the Hebrew name of Shadrach (which was his Babylonian name), from the Biblical story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego and the furnace. They were companions of Daniel. Hananiah is strictly a boy's name, and Hanneniah isn't even a real name! You could always go with Hannah, but that's a little plain. There's also no such thing as Hannahniah as far as I know. I know, I got Royal from Little House on the Prairie too! :-)
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
Actually I kind of do like Mildred, a good nickname could be Millie. I might actually add that name to our list. Thanks!
posted by Poll Poster :: 7 years ago | report
Would you like any more suggestions, because I really would recommend that you come up with something to replace Hanneniah.
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
Yes! I'm so happy! I love the name Mildred! Please add it! I love that name more than almost all of the probably 300 or so names I've suggested! Trust me, it is far more gorgeous than Hanneniah!
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
I'm really hoping and praying that you don't use Hanneniah, if I saw that on paper I would think it was a boy, (that said, it would be an awesome boy name if you have a son!) but in the end, it's your daughter.
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
Thank you for the info on the name Hananiah! Our new top five girl names are, Eva, Florence, Rosemary, Ramona, and Bridgette.
posted by Poll Poster :: 7 years ago | report
Awesome! But are you going to still consider Mildred? Pretty please? :-)
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
Yes, we are still going to consider Mildred, even considering it as a middle name. And the more I say it in my head the more and more I like it! Thank you for that suggestion, and all your suggestions! They really were all fantastic!
posted by Poll Poster :: 7 years ago | report
I'm so indecisive though, I'm going to have a horrible time picking just one name!
posted by Poll Poster :: 7 years ago | report
Really, really think about these ones (especially Mildred ;-)), and try to come up with a list of your favorites and post it later! Do you still want any more suggestions? I still have many I could give you!
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
Oh, I don't know if you knew this already, but the way people usually post a list, is they just give a title like this one "Sibling for Edelweiss Brielle", and they give a basic description, where they ask people to rate the names from 1 to 10, or pick their favorites and least favorites, or whatever you want. But they put a list of their favorite names in the first comment. So if you come up with a list of your favorites, do it that way, it usually gets the most input. GL!
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
I think we have a long enough list of names, thank you again for all the suggestions! I will have to post a poll like that in a day or two. Thank you again!
posted by Poll Poster :: 7 years ago | report
Would you like any more middle name suggestions?
posted by J :: 7 years ago | report
I might make a poll later for some middle name suggestions. I think we are going to sit down and get our list all situated, and see what names we need middle names for, or want more suggestions for. Thanks again!
posted by Poll Poster :: 7 years ago | report
Good luck and God bless! (psst, Mildred is best) 😉
