Change it from Helena it will be misprononced all the time. It looks like Hel-Lena the way its suppose to be said.
Helaina is best, it’s really pretty! I think and it actually is a name!
The girl’s name Helaina \he-lai-na\ is a variant of Helen (Greek), and the meaning of Helaina is "sun ray, shining light".
The baby name Helaina sounds like Helaine and Helana. Other similar baby names are Melaina, Helmina and Zelaina.
Helaina is a very rare female first name and a very rare surname (source: 1990 U.S. Census). Displayed below is the baby name popularity trend for the girl’s name Helaina. Compare Helaina with related baby names.

Not a fan of Penelope.
The best thing to do is spell it Helena and she’ll just have to correct people. Adding an I or Y will add even more hassle to it.

I would keep it Helena. It’s actally one of my favorite names and that is the only pronunciation that I like. The only Helenas I know..all pronounce it Hel lay nuh, so whenever I see the name, that’s how I pronounce it. I think people overestimate people mispronouncing the name..I really don’t think t’s going to be that big a deal.

my name is Helena, pronounced He-lay-na and I think it doesn’t really matter how you spell it but Helaina is probably a good way of spelling it because that’s how people usually spell my name if they don’t know how to spell it and my name pretty much always gets mispronounced being spelled Helena

My name is Helaina and it’s pronounced he-LAY-na. However Helena is sometimes pronounced that way but it’s more rare- such as the Isle of Helena. Either way I think it’s a lovely name (though I am slightly biased!)

My name is Helena. And it’s pronounced Hel-en-ah, Helen-a. People are always pronouncing it wrong they call me heleena I’m always forever correcting them it’s tiring. The names spelt or said differently still have the same meaning and still come from the same name Helen.
I love my name but I hate people saying it wrong it’s HELEN-A!!!!!!
I would DEFINITELY 100per cent spell it how you would like people to pronounce it other wise you’ll be correcting people all the time and a lot of people who I correct seem to try to correct me by telling me I don’t know how to say my own name... so annoying...
P.S Helaina and Heylana are both beautiful names pronounced very beautifully but personally I prefer Helen with the a - Helena :)

No matter how you spell a name people will occasionally pronounce it in a different way than you wish they would. I say spell it the way you like it and that’s that. I have a daughter named Helena Claire and she loves her name.

My name is Helaina! I always think of Helena being pronounced Helen-a rather than the same pronunciation as my name. No matter which you pick she’ll have to correct spelling and pronunciation as both are a little unusual. She’ll probably get many compliments on her name too! 😊 P.S. My middle name is Elizabeth

My name is Helena and I pronounce it He-LEE-na since that how my parents pronounced it. Helena is also the capitol of Montana, and they pronounce it HELL-en-a. People mispronounce my name all the time and it never bothers me! I’m just so happy to have such a lovely and unusual name.

My daughter's name is Helayna Ivy. She's now 9. We've always heard only positive things but there are days when I wish I'd gone with my gut and went with the traditional (possibly more sophisticated?) spelling, Helena

I was named Helena (Hel lena) and have for the past 47 years had it misprenounced. Have most of my life wanted to change the spelling as everyone calls me Helen-a no matter how many yikes you say it correct. The people that mean anything will prenounce it correctly. One way of finding true friends.

I've read through these comments several times trying to decide how I wanted to spell my daughters name. I wanted to honor my Grandma (Helen) by naming my daughter Helaina/Helena. I was wanting to pick "Helena" because the spelling is closer to being like my Grandma's name but I was afraid people would pronounce it as Helen-a. I went with "Helaina" thinking it would get pronounced correctly only to find people still don't always say it correctly. Then I think "what was the point I should have gone with my first choice". My Daughter's nearly a year old and I'm contemplating on changing the spelling to "Helena". I just don't know if it's worth the hassle now and I'm kind of getting used to the way it's spelled already.
