Spelling vs. Of vs. Ah-LEE-ah

How do you spell the name Ah-LEE-ah? I don't like the traditional Aaliyah as it looks made up to me, even though I know it's not. Alia it probably my favorite spelling but I'd like to see what other people think. How do you spell ah-LEE-ah?

The spellings people have suggested look too much like "A Leah". Like your saying "A person named Leah". Aaliyah isn't the traditional spelling, it's the trendy one. The traditional Hebrew spelling of the name is Aliyah, with one A. It's very pretty and it means "to ascend". I love it!

I'd probably just drop the initial A. Aaliyah is so recognizable so I think Aliyah would be immediately obvious how to pronounce, whereas with other spellings they may be different enough where the reader doesn't immediately make the connection and know how to pronounce it. With Alia, it could be uh-lee-uh, or ahl-ya or ay-lee-uh...you see what I mean? Because I've never seen the name before I don't know. But with Aliyah, it's so similar to Aaliyah that I automatically know how to pronounce it.

This is my name! I spell it Alea, but ive never had anyone spell it correctly after hearing it and it gets mispronounced about 75 percent of the time (especially when i was in school during roll call and things like that)

I would do Aleah or Alia personally.
