How would you Spell St-eh-fin? vs. Stefan vs. Stephan

My hubny and I love the name St-eh-fin for our little boy, but don't want it to be mispronounced as St-ee-vin. I prefer the Stephan spelling, but DH thinks Stefan would be the better option. Thoughts?

Both spellings are pronounced as STEH-fin but I think most people will associate your pronunciation with Stefan.

I thought Stefan was stef-ON. With the way you want to pronounce it, I would consider Steffen.

I would say Stefan like stef-ON, with the emphasis on the second syllable. For me, Stephan would be said the way you like, while Stephen could be either way. So I'd go with Stephan.

Your pronunciation is definitely also my pronunciation for both Stefan and Stephan

I would use Stefan - I've always heard this pronounced as Steph-in never -on, might be a regional thing.

Stephan I think will simply be misread as Stephen and constantly pronounced Steve-in.

The suggestion Steffen is the name i would pronounce like you want. I would pronounce Stefan ste-fun. In the States, I've mostly heard stee-vin

I would say both of these as "steph-AHN."

There are definitive F & V variants. The Gender (PH) varients have a tendancy of ambiguous pronunciations. I bare the leading version and experience thereof.
