Lora vs. Laura vs. Lara

Which spelling do you prefer? They’re all pronounced ever so slightly differently, but all essentially about the same.. My husband and I can’t agree!

Please I beg of you spell it Laura..my name is Lora and I hate it..I always have to spell it and I get called Lori all the time..I’m getting it changed to Laura..I don’t hate the name Laura just the spelling Lora

I agree ifyou want it pronounced as the spelling Laura to spell it this way. To me Lora/Laura are the same name and Lara is a different pronounciation.

I like Laura! It’s classic, and like the last poster said, your daughter will constantly have to have people mispelling her name. However, I love the spelling Lora too! PP, I wouldn’t change your name over it! Lora is stunning, and since your already named, I would keep it. And besides, you will have more corrections when people when they know your name is Lora, but you have changed it. For the poster- I would spell it Laura so you don’t have a problem from the beginning. GL!

I admit, I say Lora as Lore-a and Lara and Laura more similarly... Although they’re still not exactly the same. Lara more Lar-a and Laura like Law-ra, but not precisely.

I would spell it Laura to avoid confusion. Have you thought of Laurel? That is a different name but similar as well.

My name is Lora, and I love it. To me, it’s spelled like it sounds and to be honest, I love it more than Laura. Yes, sometimes people call me Lori, Lo, etc but that doesn’t bother me. At least I can still have nicknames! Don’t get me wrong I like Laura, but Lora is different, and different is good. Not to mention when I correct the spelling of my name people remember me better, which is better for networking!

my name is "lora" and i get called Flora (coz of the butter ) :P and i dont mind it its just i can never get anything with my name on it eg: a pen,notebook or anything else and when i go in to starbucks ahahahah

People pronounce Laura like Lora or Lara and as someone named Laura (who pronounces is it like Lara) it is really frustrating when people totally ignore how you pronounce your own name and call you LORa, but I still prefer the spelling because its boring to spell it phonetically plus I can make the u into a smiley face
