All the Lydia’s I’ve know have gone by Lyd. She’ll probably have it shorted to that, too. I think Lia is nice. If you’re going to call her that, why not just name her Lia? It’s a beautiful name. I went to HS with a Lydia and people called her Chlamydia (and she was popular!)

I really like Lydia. I wouldn’t call her by anything else until she is old enough to decide if she wants to be called whatever she wants. Please don’t call her Lia unless its an occasional form of affection.

I actually found this when I Googled Lydia and Chlamydia - to see if it has actually occured to others - It was on a social website page of a girl named Lydia.

There once was a girl called Lydia,
Who had a dose of chlamydia,

There is also a Myspace and Facebook account for a Lydia Chlamydia. Apparently it’s a legit tease.

As for having a boyfriend dating the Lydia. Nope, I never had a boyfriend that dated her - to my knowledge. It was actually a friend of hers who came up with the name and I don’t know if anyone actually said it to her face. It was more of a thing like "Lydia Chlamydia" or "Her name rhymes with Chlamydia!" That was awhile ago.

I just don’t like it because of the Lyd. I don’t think that’s attractive.
