I think it is okay as a first name but I would spell it Leni. Leni means sun ray. It is the German version of Helen.

What about Jocelyn?? It has all of the letters of Lenny in it and would be an unexpected nickname for Jocelyn which is quite cool.

Leni is a much better spelling I agree with the first poster.
