Theadore vs. Girls name

We are expecting a girl and really love the name Theodore, we don't want to use the girl version of this name (Theodora) because then her nn could be Dora and we don't want that. We've always love the name Thea but we feel it should just be kept as a nn. We were originally going to call her Athena but we realized that if we changed the theo to Thea it could also work. Instead of (THEE-e-dorh) the pronunciation would be (THEE-a-dorh). What are your thoughts? -B

What about Theodosia?

Teddy or Dori could both be options!

I think people will assume it's just an alternate spelling of the boys name. Maybe try Theodosia?

To me it's still pronounced the same regardless of whether you use a or e. Thea is a complete name in its own right, I would honestly just use that.

Cynthia with Thia as a nickname would be cute.

Honestly it is a nickname, if you don't like Dora just ask people not to call her that. People won't just assume Dora is her name. Theodora with Thea as a nickname is great! Or just use Thea on its own. Theadore is ridiculous imo. People will never pronounce or spell her name right.

I'd go with Athena over Theadore

Althea could also work with Thea for a nickname

Theodora is gorgeous and the most common nickname for that is Thea, or teddy! No one will call your child a nickname that you already don't, so if you call her Thea, others will also.

I don't understand why you don't want to use Theodora? People could use Dora even if you went with Theadore? People don't usually nickname people's children unless it's a name they have heard you say. I would personally go with Theadora and nickname her Thea. Theadore looks like Theodore but misspelt.

You can still use Theo or Thea to be short for Theodora

I love the name Theona- Greek- close to God
A variation could be Theana

I would pronounce Theodore and Theadore the same way, and I would just assume that Theadore was a boy whose parents misspelled his name. People won't call Theodora Dora if you don't want them to. Theodosia is a nice suggestion as well. I also like Athena or Althea.

We named out daughter theadore and love her name. We mostly call her Thea with her nickname theadorable. We do have to explain it sometimes and often people assume she is a boy and we misspelled her name but none of that bothers us. Hopefully it won't bother her someday.
