Caledon (Pro. Calladen) vs. Yes vs. No

This name has alot of sentimental value. When I was very young my mother lost a baby and my sister and I felt awful we couldnt help thinking this little baby in heaven never got a name so we watched a YouTube video and decided we wanted our sibling to have a unique name. We believed our sibling was growing up in heaven and wanted him to stand out because we wanted him to be special. We stumbled upon the name Caledon pronounced like Cal-ugh-den. We immediately fell in love, it was our secret naming the baby but we think about it alot. I really would love to name my own son this in honor of the lost baby but I can already imagine people not liking the name but I think it sounds beautiful and his nickname could be Cal. What do you think? Be honest if its too weird or out there. I will most likely change the spelling for pronunciation reasons maybe to Calladen, Caliden, or Kaliden.

I think Caledon is lovely! It feels Arthurian in nature, very knightly. Cal is also button-cute (but also Ledy!), and Caledon James is so handsome. What a lovely story for him to have as well!

Caledon isn't MY cup of tea but if it has value to you and your family, use it! It doesn't matter what others think when it have a beautiful story behind it.

If Caledon is what you named a dead sibling don't burden your child with this. Yes it is ok to honour someone in a name but your child should have a name of his own. How about Calvin? It would honour the memory of Caledon and give him a unique name.

"Yes" to Caledon James! According to Behind the Name, Caledon is most likely the masculine form of Caledonia, which is the Latin name for Scotland. There was also a character from the movie "Titanic" with the name. Best of luck to you!
