Michelangelo vs. Michael Angelo vs. Michael-Angelo

My Husband and I decided on this name for our son/firstborn. We are just stuck on how to spell it. The traditional way (which I'm leaning most toward) is Michelangelo. However, we know that most people will be more inclined to pronounce his name literally as Michael-Angelo instead of the italian way (we're American). My Husband thinks we should spell it as a double barrel first name, with or without a hyphen. What are your thoughts on the spelling and pronunciation?

I'm not sure how Italians pronounce it. I'm American and would pronounce all three the same. How do you want it pronounced?
