Kyla vs. Michaela

I really like the name Kyla, but my husband thinks it looks to princessy and childish for when she's older and he likes it better as a nickname for Michaela, but then it would be spelt Chaela because it doesn't make sense to have Kyla from Michaela and I definitely don't want to do a silly spelling of Michaela. Do you think Chaela works as her nickname or should we just scrap the idea and look for a new name? Thanks!

I voted for Michaela. But as reference my name is Mikayla, I think my spelling would work well with your want for Kyla.

Lots of times nicknames have slightly different spellings from the original name. Michaela could be called Kayla, just like an Abigail can be called Abby, a Michael can be Mike, a Rebecca can be Becky, Brianna can be Bree, etc.

Agree with poster 2. It doesn't look like you like Michaela very much and he doesnt like Kyla. I would find a different name all together. You both have to love the name.

I agree that Michaela is the only way this name should be spelled but if you don't love it go for a different name. (Sorry Mikayla) think Kyla would work as a nickname if you always use just Kyla and Michaela is only the official name.
