I did a poll earlier but didn’t get much feedback. Do you like these name for our twin girls? Which spelling do you like for Tea/Thea (pro. Tay-uh)? Older sisters are Danielle Kate and Adrienne Lisa. All the middle names are family names. Thanks!

Maria Lea is too many ee-uh sounds! Thea Renee is not bad, but Renee is "cookie cutter" to me.

Not a big fan of Tea or Thea. She will be spelling and pronouncing her name for everyone her whole life! What about Taylor or Tia or Tayla (like Kayla with a T)

I pronounce Thea, as it is spelled, not like Tay-ah. The actual pronunciation of the name Thea is THEE-A. Tea is also a drink and letter (T) and probably will never be pronounced Tay-ah.
Maria and Thea (Thee-ah) are nice but I prefer ones that aren’t so match-y sounding and I also really like Thea as a nickname for Althea or Alethea.
Perhaps:
Maria Leanne and Taya/Thea/Tasia

Lea is pronounced ’Lee’. And Maria and Mia are a little too close for our taste. But thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming!

For the 4th poster, Thea is pronounced both Tay-uh and Thee-uh. I like Tay-uh better and I think it’s a cute name, but I like Tea better. I agree though that Maria Lea has too much ’ee’ in it. Are there any other family names you might use?

Lee should be spelled Lee or Leigh, as not to be confused with the actual name Lea which is pronounced Lay-uh or Lee-ah. Your names just don’t add up to their spellings.

Love Maria. Lea doesnt flow with it. I would have never pronounced Tea/Thea like you want it. Tea to me is said like Tia. Thea is like TH-EH-A or TH-EE-A. I like the spelling Taya. Renee is a great name. Taya Renee is nice. I really like the suggestion of Mia as well

The girl’s name Thea \the()-thea\ is pronounced THEE-ah. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "goddess". Short form of names like Althea, Mathea and Dorothea (Greek) "gift of God". Mythology: the Greek goddess of light; mother of the sun, moon, and dawn. Actress Téa Leoni.
The girl’s name Tea \tea\ is pronounced TAY-ah. It is of Italian origin. Short form of Teresa and Teadora, made familiar by actress Téa Leoni. Also possibly variant of Thea (Greek) "goddess" or short form of Dorotea (Greek) "gift of God". See also Tia.
But who wants a name that is a drink and letter? Would you name your kid Soda but want it pronounced Suda? Or how about Juice and said Jeece?

Thea is also a Latin name pronounced "Tay-uh". I like it. Thea and Maria are cute, but I like Maria Lee better.

Thanks for the input. We’re leaning toward Thea instead of Tea right now because of the ’tea’ thing. Do you like Maria Susanne better than Maria Lea? Susanne is also a family name. Thanks

I am a school teacher and trust me, it is in your favor to name your child something that is recognizable! However, each teacher each year will learn how to say the name you choose!
I personally think Maria is PRECIOUS!
What about...
Maria and Madison
Maria and Tara
Maria and Leah
Maria and Marianna
Maria and Lucie
Maria and Kathleen

Don’t listen to the poster saying Thea is ’thee-uh’. I’ve never heard it pronounced that way and baby name websites list it as a Latin name meaning ’gift of god’ and is definitely said "tay-uh". I like Teia best, but Thea is pretty too. I like Thea Renee and Maria Susanne. GL!

Thea over Tea. I have a friend named Tea and everyone days it ’tee’ like the drink. Maria isn’t as pretty IMO, but they go together well.

I’ve never heard Thea pronounced Tay-ah. I’ve heard it used for Dorothea and Dorthea but I’ve seen it on here as a nickname or variant for Althea. My Aunt was considering Alethea for a daughter, but had a son named Bodhi, instead. All of those use it as THEE-AH. Every name website I’ve been to as listed it as either Greek and THEE-AH or both Latin and Greek but never just Latin. The majority are simply Greek. Either way, it’ll never be pronounced correctly.
Maria is nice but not with Lea, which won’t be pronounced correctly, either. Maria Suzette is lovely.

^^ stop hounding her/him. Thea can be Tay-uh too, I suppose, though I’ve never met anyone with the name so I can’t really say either way. And baby name websites do list it as ’Tay-uh’ as well as ’Thee-uh’. Here’s an example

And to the poster, I like Tea Renee and Maria Susanne. Pretty names!
