Quinlin vs. Quinlyn

This would be for a girl. If it's a boy we will spell it Quinlan. We feel the -lan ending is too masculine so we don't like it on girls. Quinlyn obviously looks the most feminine but is the -lyn ending just overly tacky these days? Also, what are some feminine middle names that are similar to Reid and Reese(besides Rose)? Hubs was insistant on the middle name being Reese because we have Reid set as the middle name for a boy and Reese is similar to Reid. But he has chosen to respect my wish since the first name was ultimately his pick that I happened to fall in love with after he suggested it. I will take any middle name suggestions even if they aren't similar Reid or Reese as I know that pool must be limited. Thanks! ~Sierra

I like Quinlyn the most, but I feel like this name just seems a little "made up" if you know what I mean. What about something like Pearl or Anne?

Thank you for voicing your opinion but I really do not know what you mean honestly. Quinlan is an Irish name meaning "descendant of Caoinlean." Caoinlean is a name meaning "slender" in Gaelic, it was derived from the surname Ó Caoinlean. My husband is two-thirds Northern Irish so the name honors his family and is easy to pronounce in the US(which is where we live). So frankly it really doesn't matter to us if others think it seems made up. Quinlyn and Quinlin are just alternative spellings of the already exsisting Quinlan.

Hubs doesn't want anything old lady sounding even for "just the middle name," which he feels that names like Pearl and Anne do sound
like grandma names. I already suggested those too him. Thanks though.

Mutilating the spelling of a masculine name to make it fit a girl ALWAYS looks cheap and lame, if you really must use Quinn but actually finding a feminine name would be better.
