Jeanerette vs. How would you vs. pronounce it?
I have found this name online and think it is interesting. [I'm a writer] I believe it is a French name, maybe a surname. I have tried looking up the pronunciation on Youtube, but the videos I found all say it as Gee-nur-ette and that sounds really off to me. I was reading it as Jhan-uh-rette. Like how Jean in French sounds kind of like a soft John. Has anyone ever heard this name before; met someone with this surname? Thanks, Kaylia.

Looks like it is a place name. There is a city in Louisiana. That's all I can find. Never heard of it before.

It's not a real name. I mean it kind of is because it's the name of a city in Louisiana, but it does not have an origin or meaning as a name-name or even a surname, and especially not finding a French origin. I've never heard of it and honestly never want to hear it, or see it, again(no offense to anyone that lives in Jeanerette, LA I just honestly cannot stand the look or sound of this "name").
If you are writing a book and wanted to use it, just don't. Obviously I cannot speak for everyone, but for me if I see a name in a book and I really do not find said name appealing to say/read or look at I put the book down and never pick it back up. Just saying.

You could just use Gina or Jeanette/Ginette. Jeanerette is not good.
