Inspired vs. by vs. Grandmother

Hi all. I'm having a baby girl in April and I would love to name her after my grandmother. My grandmother is named Katherine Diantha. I'm especially interested in incorporating my grandmother's middle name, Diantha because it means divine flower which is perfect for a spring baby. Any ideas on names inspired by Katherine Diantha? Thanks very much, Javanni

You could use Diantha as her first name and choose a middle name that you like or the name of someone else that you'd like to honor. Or you could use a variant of Katherine: Kate, Kay, Kathleen, Katerina, Katya etc.

I love Diantha! I knew one once a long time ago and I have found it very intriguing and it's stuck with me all these years. Very unique and yet very accessible. Would you consider using Diantha as the first name or middle name without altering it? There are plenty of variations of Katherine- were you trying to use both Katherine and Diantha, or just Diantha? Diantha Kate, Diantha Karen, Diantha Kathleen, etc.

I do like the idea of using Diantha as a first name however I would like to use a more unique variation of Katherine. Thanks for the suggestion.

Diantha is Dutch but stems from Greek meaning "heavenly flower." Thus, here are Dutch & Greek forms of Katherine:

Dutch: Catharina, Katrien & Katrina
Greek: Aikaterine/Aikaterini/Ekaterini, Katerina & Katina

Good luck!

For me personally, I would probably use Diantha as a middle name exactly as is, and give the baby their own first name unrelated to anyone in particular

^ Also, there's Keti/Kaiti ("KEH-ti"), which is a Greek nn for Katherine that you could consider as a full name. :-)

Use Diantha! It's gorgeous, first and foremost. It's honoring your grandmother while still giving her a name of her own, since your grandmother is called Katherine.

How about Diantha Katrine? Or Diantha Kathleen?

I agree that baby should have her own first name with the middle name Diantha. She's an individual herself so giving her her own first name gives her individuality. By giving her your grandmother's middle name, it would be a great honor.

Imo, of the names I suggested, Diantha Katrien ("kah-TREEN") OR Diantha Keti would be gorgeous & unique - GL!
