Melony is the most close to normal.. But, since normal isn't what ur going for, I'd say Persimmon.. Most people don't even know what a persimmon is! And a nn could be Persy, or Minnie.. Others you may like:
Apple
Cherry
Honey
Saffron
Caraway- a fruit
Holly-berry
Clementine

Melony gmv, but it's just a variant spelling of Melanie. Some other options:

I really think Peaches Prescott has a nice ring to it.

i love Clementine, and i think Cherry is a good underused one that has potential.

i think Melony looks like you're trying too hard to stick to a theme, and everyone will just spell it Melanie on hearing it anyway.
