A daughter?! vs. By a boy mom

Hello everyone, I am a big time boy mom as in I have 5 sons and I'm pregnant with what I assumed would be boy number 6 but our final baby is a girl. Our 5 sons are Elijah Abraham, Isaiah Solomon, Jonah Israel, Noah David, and Micah Jude. I don't even know how to go about naming a daughter, if she had been a boy her name would have been Ezra Ezekiel. Any name suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

Definitely biblical I'm thinking! Would you consider Ezra for a girl? I'll put other suggestions in next comment😊

We'd never considered Ezra for a girl. Do you think people would assume she's a boy or does it sound unisex to you all. Also we do prefer biblical names! Thank you!

Okay. How about:
Genesis
Eden
Tamara
Zemina
Psalm
Zarah
Sarah
Torah
Deborah
Naomi
Ruth
Zerah
Lydia
Esther
Vashti
Tabitha
Selah
Like any so far?

I definitely see Ezra as Unisex.. That's just me though.. I think the a at the end makes it versatile.. I also know a little girl named Ezralyn after the moms brother.. Do you like that?

Out of that list we like:
Eden
Ruth
Lydia
Esther

Thanks!

Oh! I forgot one of my favorites, Zipporah💜 With the nn Zippy!!

We don't necessarily like -Lynn at the end but I'm definitely going to run Ezra as a girl name by my husband and see how he feels. I think it might work with a very feminine middle name.

Keturah
Abigail
Ada
Adina
Apphia
These are a little less well known, but I figured I'd give it a shot!

We also like Delilah, Magdalene, and Rachel. I love Hannah but it's my name so we won't be using it for our little one.
posted by Hannah :: 4 years ago | report
And you agree about Ezra!! Besides, people are naming daughters things like Logan, and Dylan, so why not Ezra?
posted by Ava Celeste :: 4 years ago | report
How do you feel about Delilah with the biblical background? I love the names Jezebel, Delilah, and Sapphira, but I wouldn't use them because of who they were..
posted by Ava Celeste :: 4 years ago | report
We like Keziah and Adina.

I'm working on combos we'll suggest to my husband and so far I have

Ezra Rachel
Delilah Magdalene
Susanna Miriam
Joanna Rachel
Keziah Rachel

Eden, Phoebe, Magdalene, Esther, Leah, Rebekah, Rachel, Lydia, Johanna, Hope, Grace, Faith, Abigail

I love the name Esther and it is close to Ezra but much more feminine.

Ezra Rachel is pretty!! How about:
Leah
Dinah
Sapphira
And may I suggest the spelling of Dalilah? That gets rid of the association for me..
posted by Ava Celeste :: 4 years ago | report
That's definitely a hesitation with Delilah. I would probably not rule it out just based on that though.

Esther Josie

Genevieve Grace

Leah Jordan

Lindsey Brooke

Also, what about Bethany? And Noa perhaps?
posted by Ava Celeste :: 4 years ago | report
You could also do versions of Elizabeth, such as Elsie, Elsbeth, Lisbeth, or Elsa! Or just Elizabeth on its own.. Sorry for flooding you with so many names.. Let me know if I'm overwhelming you..

So I texted my husband about using Ezra as a girls name and he immediately got back to me that he isn't a fan. I don't like Leah or Bethany and we can't use Noa since our son is Noah. I really like Josie though.

Johanna Rachel
Joanna Rachel
Susanna Esther
Are my favorites right now.

I apologize about the Noa thing😂 If I could only pay attention to details...

Adina
Josia
Keziah
Delilah
Magdalene
Rachel
Susanna
Joanna
Miriam
Eden
Ruth
Lydia

Ezra is DEFINITELY and entirely masculine, uninformed opinions notwithstanding so that leads us to interesting Biblical feminine names like
Adina
Claudia
Jemima
Rhoda
Tamar
Vashti
Mara
Junia
Eve
Dinah

What names are you most leaning towards right now? Are you open to non-biblical?? Or perhaps Christianity related? Such as Liviana Celeste, which was the name of a saint, and the first daughter of Isaac Newton I believe..
posted by Ava Celeste :: 4 years ago | report
Johanna is way too close to Jonah. Delilah Magdelene and Keziah Rachel are nice from your combos. Delilah Miriam , Lydia Rachel or Eden Keziah would also be pretty.

Do you like Zara, Ezara, Esmeralda or Emanuella?
posted by Kalani :: 4 years ago | report
Eden Abigail is absolutely lovely!

We'd prefer to stick to biblical names. We hadn't considered how close Jonah and Johanna are. That being said our front runner is Susannah Rachel.
posted by Hannah :: 4 years ago | report
You may also like Shoshannah/Shoshana. :-)

I do like Susannah Rachel, but it feels slightly dated.. (Of course it's not my child, this is just me giving my humble opinion)
The name Susanna (this spelling) is a biblical name listed in the beginning of the gospel of Luke, and means Lilly. Would you consider Lilly, Lillia, Lillian, Lilith, or Lilliana?

Abigail
Abi
Abilene
Ada
Deborah
Dinah
Elizabeth
Eve
Judith
Kezia
Maria
Mary
Mia
Miriam
Naomi

Zillah
Zipporah
Ava
Genesis
Jezebel
Sapphira
Sarai
Tabitha

Susannah Rachel is a great name. In case you are still looking, how about a feminine form of a boys name?
Mattia (Matthew)
Timothea (Timothy)
Thaddea (Thaddeus)
Danielle/Daniella (Daniel)
Ezria (might be a feminine form of Ezra-seems like it to me)
Gabrielle (Gabriel)
Samuela (Samuel)
etc.
Also Damaris is a girls name from the Bible that I did not see suggested yet.

I'm a fan of Susannah Rachel. Nice combo. There is Susanna without the H (at least in my English translation) in Luke chapter 8, if that would somehow make the Biblical connection feel more solid for you. (I don't have a preference on the spelling myself.) I don't feel it's dated at all. I actually know a little Susanna.

P.S. I am not the same "guest" as any of the above comments.
