Kyler vs. yes vs. no

I plan on naming our son due in June, Kyler. We have always liked the name, and at this point dont have any other names picked out. However I was on another name site, and people were tearing the name up, saying everyone will pronounce it "Killer" not Kyler, and saying it was an ugly name..please tell me if you think it will be hard to pronounce, I think it is pretty staight forward, and not THAT Off the wall as these people are saying..be honest Kyler Grayson or Kyler Gregory Hale

I don’t think there will be any problem with the pronunciation, i’m just not a big fan of the name. If you are going to use it though, name him Kyler Gregory, the traditional name helps to balance out the unknown one.

Personally, I like Kyler Grayson. I’m not crazy about the name Gregory, but it goes alright with Kyler. By the way, I love the name Kyler.

before I even knew how it was pronounced, I always pronounced it how it really is. I am not a fan of Gregory, but I think it flows a little better with it and your last name. Good luck!

I didn’t have any confusion with the pronunciation. I have never heard the name before. Are you for sure against Tyler?

Your name reminds me of a combination of Kyle and Tyler. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the name if you guys like it.

Cant use the name Tyler, my sisters little boys’ name is Ty Chrisopher. Thanks for all the positive comments!!

Anyone who would pronounce that "killer" needs to go back to first grade and learn some phonics, so who cares what they think. I like Kyler Gergory.

I think Kyler is a fantastic name. I don’t know where there would be a problem pronouncing it. I like Kyler Gregory best but Kyler Grayson is nice also

Kyler= Kyle + Tyler .. made up.. If you can’t use Tyler what about Kyle. Kyle is great! If you must pair the trendy Kyler with a traditional name please

I had no problem with the pronunciation! I like Kyler Grayson!

i know three little girls with this name!! so i don’t think it would be a good name for a boy. i would suggest Kyle or Kale.

There is nothing wrong with Kyler and I like Kyler Grayson. I can’t believe the last person knows three girls with that name. It’s my cousins sons name and I would have never ever thought of using it on a girl. Boy is all I think of.

I think it sounds too much like Kylie when you say it fast. I’ve heard a little boy called this name and I was at first confused, thinking he was a Kylie!! Kyle, Tyler, or Taylor would be better

Kyler will have no problem with the way it’s pronounced. Looks like Tyler. I like Kyler Grayson, but either sounds great!

My son’s name is Kyler Jack and I get tons of compliments on it! The only thing he’s ever been called is Tyler, and that’s only when he mumbles his name and people just assume it’s Tyler. Good luck!

I can see Skylar for a girl, but NOT Kyler, I dont think SO many boy names need to be made girl names..Kyler should remain a BOY name for sure

I thought it looked like it would be pronounced Killer. Now I see that it’s just Tyler spelled wrong. Not dangerous but just dumb looking. I wouldn’t dream of naming my kid something that would make ANYBODY think "killer." Why don’t you just name him Ted Bundy.

Kyler is cute, its one of my favorites. I think you should definatly name your baby Kyler!

I like the name kyler i dont care what these other people say. I wanted to go with the name kai and when i found this name i liked it better and i can still call him kai as a nick name ( kyler... Ky) i dont like tyler or kyle maybe its cuz i knew a million kids in school growing up with those names. Someone will always hate on any name you choose. Its best to go with what feels right to you. F these [removed]s and their rude opinions!

Referring to guest comment above...How the hell do you get "killer" from this name? God you people are stupid!

Kyler is a boy name. Just to get things understood there are girls given boy names and then there are boys given girl names. For example ashley is a girl name but some people name their boys ashley. Or for this instance you name your girl kyler your naming it a boy name. Kyler is NOT a girl name. Nothing wrong with naming ur kid these names im just trying to make the point that Kyler is not a girl name.

You would have to say kyler pretty damn fast to make it sound like kylie. Wtf. And maybe kyle and tyler are from kyler and not the other way around u think of that? What are you a name-ologist? Who said you were the go to critic on names? Quit hating.

Ashley is actually a boys’ name (Gone with the Wind, anyone?)

I named my daughter Kyler two years ago and still love it. Now that she has hair she is never mistaken as a boy!

My son is Kyler Matthew. People hear Tyler. Most people don’t hear well and I could care less what they have to say. Love the name.

Well my name is Kyler. So many people accidently call me Tyler. I think it could go for a boy name but girl could work to cause I’m a girl.

Well my name is Kyler. So many people accidently call me Tyler because my friends name is taylor and we don’t even look anything alike! I think it could go for a boy name but girl could work to cause I’m a girl.

In Gaelic, Kyler is a place referring to the narrows, a wood or a church. In Dutch, it means Bowman or Archer. I heard that Kyler is 421st most popular names nowadays, and the top 300 of the favorite names, so the name is pretty good.

It was an old episode of Beavis & Butthead that had this guy with his name Kyler across his forehead like Killer only they can't spell properly of course....so the name Kyler is just strange. Let it be Kyle or Tyler but don't mix and match.

Kyler is a retarded name, no one should name their kid Kyler

My son is 19 now, Kyler Alexander. He often goes by "Ky" for short. The only issue with the name is of course, it is so close to many others…Tyler, Skyler, Kyle. Other than that and with the increasing popularity of the name, I still love it. :)
