Baby Name Poll Results

Here are my thoughts. I think Emmy works, but I prefer the spelling Emme when its the full name. Emmy with the Y is darling as a nickname, but I just don't think it looks complete. Emme is seems more complete (I also think Emmi would work too). I love Emmalyn, so if you go with a full name, its a great choice, but since you love Emmy, I would go with it and maybe consider spelling it Emme.

I feel if she would be mainly known as Emmy then Emmy is fine by itself. (My mom's co-worker named their kid just Kate instead of Katherine, for example, because they knew she'd end up being a Kate). Personally, I'm not a nickname name kind of person.

Emmelyn is really beautiful, I like it a lot. Very cool, too. Emmy is very pretty and cute. I do prefer the spelling Emme, though, personally. Another favorite of mine is Emmeline.

I prefer Emmelyn nn Emmy/Emme. But if you guys prefer just the short name and just aren't sure if it works as a full name, it does work as a full name and you should just use whatever name you love the most.

She would definitely be the only Emmelyn in her class, though. To me that is a plus.

Obviously, if Emmy is the one, go for it! But otherwise, I would advise you to go for Emmalyn/Emmeline. It not only gives her a fuller name, it gives her options as she gets older. Emmy is adorable on a little kid, but I can't picture it on a 45 year old woman. Other ways to get to Emmy if you want a fuller name but are unsure about Emmelyn (which is wonderful). The EM part is in caps, to help you better understand where I'm getting Emmy from.

Emmelyn is a beautiful name, it does have a lot of variant spellings that you might like more.

At the end of the day, I love how Emmelyn gets you and your daughter some flexibility and gives you the nickname Emmy. I say go for Emmelyn, which will definitely age much better than Emmy. Good luck!
