Orion? vs. Help
I have a son named Apollo who goes by Ollie most of the time and now I'm expecting another boy. I love the name Orion and I was thinking he could go by Ryan but the spellings are completely different. I could go with Rion (pronounced like ryan) or Oryan but I'm not sure. Could you help us out please?

Orion "Rion" works. I would definitely not spell it Oryan. That would be a headache. Apollo and Orion are great together, and I love Ollie and Rion! Good luck!

Nicknames being spelled differently from the full name isn't a big deal. My sister is Brianna nicknamed Bree, because she doesn't like the look of Bri. My niece and nephew, Bree's kids, are Mason "Mae" and Lincoln "Link."
Orion "Ryan" is perfectly fine.

Orion, nn Ryan, makes perfect sense to me. Nicknames are not supposed to be scientifically drawn from the full name. They are to show affection, whimsy and creativity. they are supposed to be flexible. As mentioned by Guest above, it isn't a big deal. Good luck! :0)
Orion definitely as the spelling for the first name. He might decide on his own how he wants to spell his nickname. I wouldn't worry that you have to have that figured out now. I would not change the spelling of Orion. The only other way that's obvious is O'Ryan, but why would you make it more complicated? Just stick with Orion.
