Pronounce vs. Seres/Ceres

I know Seres or Ceres is pronounced "SEER-eez" but do you think it could be pronounced "SAIR-ays"?

Ceres is the only correct spelling and it's traditionally pronounced "KEHR-rehs" (so like Carys) in Classical Latin or you can pronounce it in English as "SIR-eez".

Might I suggest Seren "SEH-rehn" (like Sarah with an N)? It means "star" in Welsh.

But to answer your question, I think SAIR-ays is pushing it. I could see SAIR-eez but not SAIR-ays.

When I see Ceres I pronounce it SAIR-eez
